It's Still a Tiny Audience

Someone pointed me to a story on another TV news website that reported that Nexstar’s News Nation just had their highest-rated week ever in total day across both total viewers and the key 25-54 demographic.

As I read the rah-rah story, I saw that News Nation pulled in 67,000 viewers and 13,000 in the demo.

While it is good that News Nation is showing some growth, this is hardly news.

To give you a comparison on those News Nation numbers. As NN was pulling in 67,000 viewers, Fox News pulled in 1.5 million with nearly 200,000 in the demo. MSNBC pulled in over 1 million viewers and 120,000 in the demo.

Even struggling CNN, 656,000 viewers and over 140,000 in the demo. These numbers all come from Nielsen.

News Nation has somehow gotten some TV media people to write glowing stories about them. But the truth is, very few people are watching.

Maybe one day, News Nation will become a player in cable news, but at this point, they aren’t even on the same field as the others.

But, you have to give them credit; they are pulling the wool over some media reporters’ eyes, and unless there is some kick-back, I have no reason why that is.

Just saying…
