The Burnout Factor
/Many people in TV news say they are burned out.
Here is one of the reasons as to why that is.
The average number of daily hours of local TV news that stations produce increased by more than 78% over the past 20 years, according to the Pew Research Center.
In 2003, stations put on an average of 3.7 hours of news a day, and in 2022 it was nearly double that.
Turn news crews from two people to a single MMJ, add the web content and social media posts and you can see why TV news people are getting fried.
Add, the low pay, and it adds up to people being burned out.
Media companies should look very seriously at paying their employees better and look to offering up 4-day work weeks.
I believe that if you give Journalists the pay they deserve and a bit more time off, you would rid the longterm burnout problem.
