Longtime Nexstar Anchor is Pushed Out

Both people inside and outside the station are not happy with this decision by Nexstar’s WKRG (Mobile).

Randy Patrick, sports director at WKRG for the past 31 years, announced on his Facebook page that his time with the station is coming to an end.

Patrick, whose contract was not renewed, said that he was told about a month ago by WKRG management that his contract would not be renewed. He noted that he was surprised by the decision, but holds no ill will towards the company.

Despite not retiring, Patrick is unsure of what the future holds for him. He said that he has already been offered a couple of things, but is waiting to see what opportunities present themselves before making a decision.

In his Facebook post, Patrick thanked the coaches and athletes he has come to know, as well as his viewers and listeners for their support. He said that he looks forward to new career opportunities and what the future holds.
