Accused Paul Pelosi Attacker David DePape Calls San Francisco Station *

David DePape, the man charged with attempted murder after attacking Paul Pelosi with a hammer, has made a chilling call to a local TV newsroom.

The body camera and surveillance videos of the attack were ordered to be released by a superior court judge on the same day DePape made the call from the San Francisco County jail.

In the five-minute conversation with KTVU-TV reporter Amber Lee, DePape apologized for the attack and said he believed individual liberties were under attack. He also mentioned that he had gotten the names and addresses of others to pay them a visit.

Lee reported that the conversation sounded scripted and that DePape did not want to jeopardize his case. DePape has been held in jail without bail since the attack and is facing charges including attempted murder, elder abuse, and kidnapping.

He has pleaded not guilty in both state and federal cases.
