Big Differences in Reporting
/Most of you know that I grew up in Buffalo and have been a huge Bills fan all my life.
The Bills are considered Super Bowl contenders this year and for most of the year have played great.
My dream is to see the Bills go back to another Super Bowl and win this time.
But, on Monday night, the Bills going to the Super Bowl was not even a thought. The Bills were playing the Cincinnati Bengals when Bills safety Damar Hamlin made what appeared to be a routine tackle, go up and then collapsed.
The game was suspended and Hamlin is in critical condition in a Cincy hospital room. The sport of football took a back seat and the focus and thoughts were on Damar Hamlin.
Turning to the media that have been covering this tragedy and keeping viewers updated.
WXIX (Cincy) Sports Anchor Joe Danneman was updating his Twitter with the latest news on Hamlin and the Bills.
On the other end of the spectrum is WKRC (Cincy) Sports Reporter Chris Renkel.
Really?! A 24-year-old player is fighting for his life, and you are posting this crap? How would you feel if that was your brother or son lying on the field and you were posting about a sports bar that ran out of beer?
Hopefully, WKRC News Director Tim Geraghty can explain how tone-deaf that post really was.
Be Better.
