Props to The Photographer

Later today, WYFF Chief Photographer Don Jackson will be named Honorary Life Membership Award recipient by the South Carolina Broadcasters Association.

Jackson has worked as a photographer at WYFF since 1972. He was promoted to chief photographer in 1988. Jackson has dedicated his entire career, more than five decades, to the Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville-Anderson market.

“For over half a century Don has been picking up a camera to cover big events and day-to-day stories all over this area,” says WYFF President and General Manager John Humphries. “His commitment to excellence is unmatched. We look forward to celebrating Don’s numerous achievements and years of dedicated service to our viewers, WYFF, and broadcasting in South Carolina.”

“Don is a friend to everyone in the newsroom,” says WYFF News Director Akili Franklin. “He has mentored countless young journalists throughout his 51 years here. Don’s contributions to WYFF News 4 and the broadcasting community are immeasurable.”

Jackson joins two other WFBC/WYFF employees in receiving this honor – Norvin Duncan, who signed WFBC-TV on the air on December 31, 1953 (1990), and Lee Brown, retired WYFF Assistant News Director (2015).

The Honorary Life Membership Award salutes those who have served broadcasting by making significant contributions to the industry either in South Carolina or outside the state.
