And Now It's Gone
/I know by the email that I get every day that I can speak for a number of Journalists working in TV news.
When a 12-year-old posts a video of them lip-syncing some line from a movie or a TV show, it’s cute.
When a grown adult working in TV news does it, it’s not cute, and it is embarrassing for the hard-working Journalists that are trying to be professional.
We you see those video clips on FTVLive, I can assure you that I didn’t find those videos. If you know me, I continue to pull back from social media, and I’m certainly not jumping around on social media platforms looking for stupid videos.
The videos you see posted on FTVLive are sent in by Journalists that often feel sick seeing grown people that are supposed to professionals, posting dance videos and lip-syncing.
Those videos do nothing for your station and nothing for your reputation in this business. They might get clicks, and sadly that is all that so many of you care about.
Yesterday, FTVLive posted a video of the anchor team at Fox O&O KCPQ in Seattle lip-syncing some stupid video.
By the way, that video link was sent to us by a TV General Manager that doesn’t even work in that market.
It was posted by Abby Acone (pictured right) who says her job is Meteorologist & Climate Reporter. I’m not sure how many people take her seriously on climate stories when she is posting crap like that?
FTVLive posted the story and wrote,“Fox O&O boss Jack Abernethy must be so very proud of the product.”
Interestingly, after FTVLive posted the story, Acone deleted the post.
Why? If you thought it was funny and a great post, why delete it?
But there are still gems like this from the KCPQ anchor team.
Great representation you have there Mr. Abernethy.
