Scott,

The idiocy of many postings I read and you often share on your site are very much part of the time we inhabit.

But the note from the "reporter" about W. Va. was a bridge too far!

I had the privilege of working in W. Va at the beginning of my career. I loved the state and loved the people. W.Va like many has its problems and has certainly seen its share of tragedy (I started in Huntington 18 months after the Marshall Plane Crash), but for a young "journalist" to denigrate the entire state speaks to the shallowness of so many of our current crop of people inhabiting our profession.

My oldest daughter was born there, returned to attend Marshall University, became Deputy Mayor in Huntington and is now SVP of Operations at Marshall. Joanne (Jaeiger) Tomblin, Former First Lady of W.Va and former President of W.Va Community and Tec College was a co-anchor with me at WSAZ back in the day.

Two other dear friends, Debra Thomas and Pam Huff (still on the air in Birmingham) helped pave the way for women in television journalism.

And here are just a few of the folks who have worked in W.Va and went on to distinguish themselves on the national scene:

Ed Rabel-CBS News
Neil Boggs-NBC News
Roger O'Neill-NBC News
Bill Stewart-ABC News (murdered by government troops in Nicaragua)
Sean Calebs-CNN
Joe Johns-NBC/CNN

I knew and know many of these folks and they served our profession and the covered the state as professionals.

My two cents!

I just read the piece about this jackanape from Pittsburgh. I don’t know if any repercussions are going to come of it, but if, and when, they do, watch him claiming that he made a mistake or he was a victim of cancel culture or whatever, but we have a saying where I’m from… One time it’s a mistake, the second time it’s a choice. Think about it.

I've been a fan of KTLA Morning News since its inception. If there's news, they report it and if it's slow, they goof off. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but working from home, it's just on in the background.

This weekend, I spent quite a bit of time unfollowing most of the accounts. I understand that those who are left have to worry about keeping their jobs, but I'm just not going to support it anymore.

I didn't see the return of Liberte to donate clothes, but doesn't that imply they don't pay well enough that the current weather person has to take hand-me-downs from the former weathercaster?

And if their plan for next weekend is to bring in Sam. I just gained 5 hours. The two-week free commercial for a luxury liner has been painful enough to watch, but Sam reporting about the upcoming election or Jan 6 commission reports--just no.

If management thinks that bringing back a string of people who left will make people forget what happened, it won't. I'd hope they hire a professional crisis management team quickly because sweeps is coming soon, and there's no end to the drama.

I don't know what it would take to get me to watch again, but it's not with the ND in place or the current hemorrhaging of talent.

We thank you for being the most reliable (and revenge porn free) site. You've been warning of the trouble for ages.

Warmest regards,
