Filling in for Romero and Mester

Along with all the problems going on at Nexstar’s KTLA, there is also a hole that needs filling.

Weekend morning Anchor Lynette Romero left the station suddenly and is headed to KNBC.

And, her co-anchor Mark Mester was sacked for calling out management for the way they handled Romero’s exit.

That leaves KTLA management with two open spots on the weekend and a number of pissed-off viewers because the people they liked watching are gone.

Well, it appears that the suits at KTLA hope to get back on the viewers’ good side this upcoming Saturday.

Sources tell FTVLive that longtime KTLA Entertainment Reporter Sam Rubin (pictured above) will be anchoring on Saturday. KTLA insiders think that putting the popular Rubin in as a news anchor will help appeal to viewers.

But, that isn’t all, sources tell FTVLive that recently departed Weekend Morning News Anchor Dayna Devon will be brought back to sit next to Rubin.

Devon left the newscasts back in mid-August but still works at KTLA on the primetime show, LA Unscripted.

Sources say that this move is set just for this Saturday while the station tried to figure what to do with the weekend newscasts.
