Did This Nexstar Reporter get Cited for Possession?

Looking at court records it shows that a Matthew s. White was charged with “possession of Marijuana” back in January. Also, according to the court records the case is still active.

Sources tell FTVLive that this is the same Matthew White that works as a Reporter for Nexstar’s WCIA in Champaign, Il.

According to White’s WCIA bio, he graduated from Indiana State University in 2017 and also worked in the state of Indiana, so appears to have some ties to the Hoosier state.

Using Facebook Messenger, FTVLive asked White if he is the same person that was cited for possession?

Here is a screenshot of that DM:

FTVLive looked up the address listed in the court case of Matthew White that was cited. Interestingly, it came back to an address in Champaign. Note: we blacked out the street.

So, we hopped back on the DM and messaged White back on both September 1st and September 2nd.

According to Facebook, White saw our message but has not responded, despite the fact we gave him nearly two weeks to do so.

According to the court filings, White changed his plea on March 17th.

And on March 31st, the court received a letter from “First Sting.”

It appears that White showed the court that he was doing “community service” and he coached a youth baseball team for First String.

The letter to the court from the organization provided proof that White was doing community service.

But here is where it gets a bit odd.

White did a segment on the newscast about First String and had some of the kids that he coached on his team.

Did he use WCIA’s newscast to help fill his community services need to the court in Indiana? Did management at WCIA know this at the time?

You can watch the segment below.

Now, remember, White claimed to FTVLive that he was not cited for possession in Indiana, and he never answered our follow-up questions about it.

And maybe it is not the same guy, despite the fact that his birthday matches the same as the Matthew White that was cited. The Matthew White that was cited also lives in Champaign. And, both (if there are two) Matthew Whites do community work with the First String.

I’ll let you guys decide what you think about if this is the same guy, or just a very big coincidence.

We gave WCIA’s Matthew White nearly two weeks to respond and he did not.
