While it seems that many Tegna News Directors do not do a good job of watching what their staff posts on social media, one Tegna station is doing away with the News Director position completely.

KAGS the Tegna-owned NBC affiliates in the Waco, TX DMA, will no longer have a News Director. Tegna also owns another NBC affiliate, KCEN in nearby Temple, Texas.

It appears that KCEN’s News Director will also oversee KAGS and my guess is that there is no or very little raise in pay to do so.

As one TV news insider said to FTVLive, “Sounds like Tegna is trimming the fat and muscle before Standard General swoops in.”

BTW- doesn’t this Standard General takeover of Tegna seem to be taking forever?
