Another 4PM Newscast Being Launched

You might find this hard to believe, but there are still a few stations out there that have yet to launch a 4PM newscast.

Like WCCO in Minneapolis.

Well, that is until Labor Day.

The CBS O&O announced that they are showing up late to the 4PM newscast game, but they are in fact joining the game.

The station announced that station veterans Jeff Wagner and Erin Hassanzadeh (pictured above) will front the new newscast.

"The desire for local news is as strong as ever," said WCCO general manager Ann Ouellette. "Launching the 4 p.m. news is part of a broader strategy to serve our audience where they are on all of our platforms."

I feel like I heard other General Managers say this same exact quote years ago.

I guess things move a bit slower in the Twin Cities.

But, they will be launching in plenty of time to rake in that political money that will be rolling in.

Of course, I’m sure that had nothing to do with WCCO’s decision.
