Trust in TV News Reaches All-Time Low

This should scare the pants off anyone that works in TV news and should really be a wake-up call to media company executives.

a new study shows that just 11% of people have "a great deal" or "quite a lot" of confidence in TV news. Newspapers fare a bit better at 16%.

It is worse when it comes to republicans. Only 8% of Republicans said they had "a great deal or quite a lot of confidence" in TV news, compared to 20% of Democrats.

Donald Trump has been a big factor in getting Republicans not to trust TV news.

But, FTVLive will also add that cable news has played a huge role in this. With Fox News in the tank for the right and CNN and MSNBC in the tank for the left, many people don’t trust cable news and it spills over.

I often talk to people about TV news, just your average viewer, and almost 100% of the time when they started talking ill of TV news, they cite a cable news channel.

I really do think that local news should be running massive promo campaigns that point out the fact that they are objectively covering the news and are NOT anything like a cable news station.
