So, What Happened to the Investigation?
/Just a follow-up…
Remember back in early May when WHBQ (Memphis) Chief Meteorologist Joey Sulipek posted a racist tweet?
Sulipek tweeted about NBA player Draymond Green during a Grizzlies / Warriors game and referred to the play as a “knuckle dragger.”
Draymond Green is Black, Sulipek is white, and the term “knuckle dragger” has been used by many racist people to refer to African-Americans.
FTVLive showed you the tweet as management at the Cox station stayed quite before finally releasing a brief statement.
So, here we are a month later and we have to wonder how that investigation is going? The station hasn’t said a word and Sulipeck’s bio is still listed on the station’s website.
Who’s conducting this investigation and how long is it going to take?
There is a Change.org petition with just over 1,800 signatures asking the station not to fire the Chief Met. The petition has been up for a month and 1,800 seems a little paltry in a TV market with over 600,000 households.
But, it appears that WHBQ management is waiting for this to blow over and then you will see Sulipek return to the air very quietly.
Also, I can assure you, that neither WHBQ nor Cox management is the least bit happy that FTVLive brought this story back into the spotlight.
