Nexstar Moves Closer to Buying a Big Stake in The CW

While I can honestly say that I have never watched The CW network, I can also say I don’t know anyone else that has done so either.

The rumor has been around for months that Nexstar is interesting in acquiring a majority stake in The CW and it appears that deal is getting closer.

As the deal is currently structured, Nexstar will get a 75% stake in The CW.

Current partners Paramount Global and Warner Bros Discovery each take 12.5%.

Deadline says that sources indicated there is still some chance the tentative agreement could unravel, but if it stays on track it could be formalized in the next few weeks.

Nexstar’s goal of trying to turn WGN America, now News Nation into a cable news operation as so far been a huge flop.

We’ll see if they can fare any better with The CW.
