The Best Media Companies to Work For

LinkedIn released their list of the Top Companies in Media & Entertainment.

They rank what they say are the 25 best companies to grow a career in the industry.

I was surprised at some of the choices and I think you might be as well.

Number 1 on the list was The Walt Disney Company.

As someone that owns a lot of Disney stock and has watched the stock tank, I was surprised Disney topped the list.

And while this list is about Media & Entertainment, I’m really not sure Disney is the best. But, I will add that for the most part, if we are talking just TV news, then Disney is a strong company. Most ABC O&O’s are solid stations and worth working for.

So, I won’t argure with Disney being on this list, other than the fact that the company’s stock price has dropped nearly $100 a share in the matter of a few months.

Let’s look who else is on the list?

Coming in at No. 4 on the list is CNN.

Huh?

I do think CNN will get better under Chris Licht, but this company had all kinds of problems under Jeff Zucker who was tossed for dating and employee. Chris Cuomo who was tossed for having no ethics. And, to top it all off, the network’s ratings have tanked to historic lows.

And this is No. 4 on the list?

No. 12 on the list is Sinclair Broadcasting.

No. 23 on the list is Nexstar, which I would certainly say is better than Sinclair which places much higher on the list.

Nexstar seems to be a good company to work for if you’re a middle age white male, but we have questioned a number of times about their lack of diversity.

Nexstar ranks one spot higher than NBC, which came in at No. 24 on the list.

I have to wonder who the hell made this list and were they drinking at the time?

Let me ask you this, if you were offered a job, the same position, the same pay at NBC, Nexstar, or Sinclair, which company do you go and work for?
