Shuffling Off in Buffalo

Longtime WIVB (Buffalo) Reporter Al Vaughters has said that this is his last month in TV news and that he is leaving the Nexstar station at the end of June.

Vaughters has spent nearly 30 years reporting the news in Buffalo at WIVB.

“It has truly been one of my life’s greatest honors to work alongside some of the finest, most principled and respected people I have ever met,” Vaughters wrote in an email to the newsroom. “For nearly 28 years I have been granted the opportunity to share Western New York’s good news and not-so-good news, our victories and setbacks, consumer education, and without hesitation, offer constant reminders why Buffalo is known to the world as the ‘City of Good Neighbors.'”

Vaughters has also served as the vice president of the Buffalo Association of Black Journalists.

Sadly, in a sign of the times, when Vaughters signs off, it will leave WIVB with an almost all-white on-air staff. Something that FTVLive has seen with a number of Nexstar stations.
