Weather From 400 Miles Away

KABC viewers might have wondered what was going on as the anchors tossed it to the weather segment.

The double box showed the news anchors sitting in front of the LA skyline, but the weather anchor had water and a bridge behind him.

The bridge didn’t look like any bridge I have seen in LA, in fact, it looked a lot like the Bay Bridge in San Francisco, which I have driven over many times.

Which made sense since the Meteorologist giving the forecast on KABC was Mike Nicco, who works for KGO in San Francisco.

So, why is the Meteorologist from San Fran giving the weather forecast for LA from 400 miles away?

This is the number 2 market in the country.

They couldn’t find anyone local?

I saw this post about a station in Des Moines that has 5 Mets on staff.

How many does KABC have?

The more I see this happen, the more I worry what the future of this business is going to look like.

Just saying….
