Signing Off in Carolina

After 16 years at the station, WHNS Fox Carolina Anchor Cody Alcorn is leaving the Gray station and headed to Atlanta.

“I am leaving this great station and beautiful area purely for personal reasons. I am departing Fox Carolina on great terms. I just felt the time was right for me to make this decision,” said Alcorn.

He also wants viewers to know that he wasn’t pushed out and that station management made him an offer to stay. Why do people in TV always worry about making sure viewers know that management wanted them to stay?

Alcorn has been at the Greenville station since 2006.

News Director Marybeth Jacoby said, “Cody’s contributions to the Fox Carolina team go beyond what he has done on camera. He has been a leader behind the scenes day in and day out. " She added that the station plans to name a replacement soon.

“I believe the station will continue to grow with the person they choose as my replacement,” said Alcorn. “Please support that person the same way you have supported me.”

And remember….

Management really wanted him to stay.
