Back to Focusing on Fox

Before Chris Light took over the reins at CNN, it was reported that he reached out to some at Fox News, promising that CNN would dial down the rhetoric and attacks against the conservative network.

When that report came out, you could see that CNN media critic Brian Stelter, a longtime Fox News obsessive, pulled back on his coverage and attacks on Fox News.

Stelter’s minion, Oliver Darcy, seemed to continue the criticism of FNC as usual.

Looking at Stelter’s ironically named “Reliable Sources” newsletter from last night and it seems it is back to focusing on Fox News and its continuing attacks on the network.

I guess it’s true, a leopard can’t change its spots.

But, while CNN has focused so intently on Fox News and what they are doing, the CNN viewership dropped dramatically, while Fox News viewership has risen.

Now, I’m not saying that CNN’s obsession with Fox News has led to their decline and boosted Fox; there are other factors as well.

But, does any company, in any business, make it to number one by obsessing on the competitor?

Maybe it is time that Stelter and Darcy and the rest of CNN start focusing on CNN and not worry about what Fox News is doing.

Just saying….
