EP? In Miami?
/TV news is having a very hard time trying to fill jobs.
It wasn’t that long ago, if you wanted to be an Executive Producer in Miami, you would likely have nearly a decade of experience and at least a few stations under your belt.
Peggy Phillip was the EP at WPLG in Miami after spending decades in the business and a couple of stints as News Director in medium markets.
Phillip left the station as she winds down her career.
WPLG has hired an Executive Producer for that just a couple of years ago as a student at the University of Miami.
Like many J-schoolers, Tommy Fletcher both produced and anchored the news for the college station and now, two years later he is an EP at WPLG.
While we say good for him, we have to wonder if this kid has the experience needed to be an EP In a market the size of Miami?
Is this where we are right now when it comes to hiring?
Fletcher has posted his Instagram at all this year, until a few days ago where he posted a selfie to show off his “fancy pants.”
Don Hewit just flipped over one more time.
