Cox Station Launches Investigation into Twitter Post
/Yesterday, FTVLive told you about the post on WHBQ Chief Meteorologist Joey Sulipeck’s Twitter account that screamed racism.
WHBQ and parent company Cox remained silent on the matter until late yesterday afternoon when they posted this:
Investigation?
The investigation should go something like this.
The station should ask Sulipeck if he posted the tweet; if he answers “yes,” then he should be fired. End of investigation.
Sulipeck did not appear on the newscasts Monday.
After being called out for his racist post, he appeared to delete his entire Twitter account.
One insider tells FTVLive that the station some employees believe that station management is hoping to weather the storm. They think the plan right now is to have Sulipeck sit out a two-week suspension and then return to the air with an apology.
Golden State Warriors head basketball coach Steve Kerr weighed in on the post. "Does it surprise me that a weatherman would tweet a slur at Draymond in 2022?" Kerr said. "Not the slightest bit. This is America.”
Sadly, I’m not surprised either.
We will be watching to see how WHBQ’s “investigation” turns out?
