Norah O’Donnell Signs New Deal

Despite the stories that CBS News co-president Neeraj Khemlani was conducting a search to replace Evening News Anchor Norah O’Donnell has signed a new deal.

Khemlani was reported to have reached out to Brian Willams and others to take the Anchor role, but a number of insiders saw that as tactic to make sure O’Donnell did not try and demand a big raise, knowing she could be replaced.

Word is that the tactic worked and O’Donnell signed a new 3-year-old deal with a minimal bump in pay. Sources tell FTVLive that the new contract offers incentives if certain goals are met.

CBS continues to be an also ran in the evening news race. Industry insiders say that replacing O’Donnell likely wouldn’t have changed that.

“Khemlani cares more about the bottom line than he does about ratings, and I don’t think that will ever change,” said one CBS staffer to FTVLive.

The new deal assures that O’Donnell stays through the 2024 election.
