After nearly 35 years behind the anchor desk at WMUR, Anchor Tom Griffith says that he is going to be retiring “in another month or two.”

While he didn’t give an exact date, I will bet it lines up with the end of the May book.

Griffith said, "When I arrived in New Hampshire in 1988, I thought this might just be another stop along the way in a long broadcast career. But I fell in love. I fell in love with a state and way of life like no other in America.”

"It’s almost unheard of for an anchor to spend this many years in the business at one television station,” said WMUR GM Andrew Vrees. “In that time, Tom has succeeded because of his commitment, his professionalism and his overwhelming kindness."

Griffith said that after 30,000 newscasts he wants to go home and have dinner with his wife Janice.

Hopefully, he checked to Janice to see if the feeling was mutual.
