There is Low Pay in TV News and Then There is This!
/Heartland Media’s KQTV (St Joseph, MO) posted a job for a full-time Meteorologist/Reporter.
The job posting says that, “The right candidate will be able to prepare and deliver accurate weather forecasts for broadcast, web and social media. You must also have an interest in general assignment reporting, be able to generate news content and share story ideas in editorial meetings. Experience with WSI systems, shooting.”
So basically, you will be a trained Met that will also be asked to report and shoot your own news stories in between giving viewers the weather information.
That’s a lot of work.
Check out the posting and see what the job pays?
$100,000?
Nope.
$65,000?
Not even close.
According to the job posting, it pays between $1 and $2 dollars a year. But, it does include 401K matching.
I’m pretty sure that paying a person a buck a year is below the minimum wage guidelines.
