Why Didn't She Stay?

Insiders at CBS News tell FTVLive that Evening News Anchor Norah O’Donnell was in New York the morning that the subway shooting happened in Brooklyn.

O’Donnell was said to have been jogging in Central Park on Tuesday morning.

But, when viewers tuned into CBS Evening News on Tuesday night, they saw O’Donnell back in her studio in DC.

Sources tell FTVLive that subway shooting news broke during the 10AM editorial meeting call.

Some on the call thought they should anchor the evening newscast from the shooting scene, which is what both ABC and NBC ended up doing.

But, insiders say that O’Donnell, who was already in New York did not want to stick around. She told people on the call that, “She was already at the airport,” according to an insider.

The source said that O’Donnell had plans in DC on Tuesday night and did not want to stay in New York.

One CBS News insider that that some of the staff were “fuming” at O’Donnell’s plans to head back to DC.
