Walking Towards the Exit

Chief Meteorologist Don Slater joined WAVY-TV (Hampton Roads) back in 1981 and he is now starting the slow walk to the exit.

The station sent out a push alert, saying that a “big announcement” was coming and to tune into the newscast. Anything for ratings….right?

Anyway, the big announcement was the fact that Slater is being stripped of his Chief Meteorologist title, moving to part-time and will become the “Chief Emeritus” at the station.

Slater joked that the new assignment comes with a “huge raise” which was more likely a big pay cut.

What stations won’t do to try and trick viewers into watching during a rating book.
