Back on January 11th, FTVLive posted a story that we titled “What’s Up with Leon?”

The story was about how WRC Anchor Leon Harris had been seen slurring his words while anchoring the newscasts.

FTVLive watched video in which Harris was very hard to understand and the slurring of his words was very noticeable.

Viewers noticed it as well.

A number of people were worried that Harris might be drinking too much and some wondered why the station was continuing to have him on the air in that condition?

The slurring newscasts happened at least two times in the matter of days.

Yesterday, WRC went on the air to announce that Harris had been arrested after police say he crashed into another car and tried to leave the scene. Police say he had a blood alcohol reading that was more than twice the legal limit.

This is how WRC announced Harris’s arrest on air:

The NBC station says that, “Harris will not appear on-air as the investigation continues.”

You do have to wonder if station management tried to intervene back in January when Harris was seen slurring his words on the news?

Thankfully, Harris nor the people he crashed into were seriously hurt in the crash.
