Replacement Already Named in Denver

KCNC’s Anchor Jim Benemann is not set to retire for another 4 months, but that hasn’t stopped the CBS station from naming his replacement.

Sports Anchor Michael Spencer will take over Benemann’s spot when he leaves at the end of March.

Is he thrilled?

"Moving to this station was my dream job and reporting live from Washington D.C. for my first assignment was an unbelievable way to make my debut," Spencer said. “Since I arrived in Colorado, Jim Benemann has been a great mentor and friend. I have some big shoes to fill, but I'm excited for the opportunity and am thrilled that I get to anchor alongside Karen Leigh on a nightly basis."

“As our main sports anchor, Michael has developed a connection with people across Colorado,” General Manager Tim Wieland said. “He is authentic, cares deeply about our state, and is committed to serving our diverse communities. His move into the news anchor position is a testament to his many talents, and a recognition of the trust Michael has built with Coloradans.”
