Making History in DC TV News
/Sinclair’s WJLA announced that they have promoted morning Meteorologist Veronica Johnson to Chief Met at the DC station.
It taking the role, Johnson makes some history; she becomes the first Black woman to be Chief Met in the station’s 75-year history.
Johnson has been at the station since 2016 and will now move to the evening and late newscasts on WJLA.
"I've been honored to be a part of the DMV Meteorological community for many years. The DMV is my home! I'm truly grateful and asking for your continued support from our current and our future viewers. Our entire First Alert Weather Team will continue to keep you informed and be On Your Side,” Johnson said.
WJLA also announced that Meteorologist Eileen Whelan would take over the morning duties from Johnson.
