Signed Off in SoCal

Another NBC vet is out the door.

On Thursday, Southern California bid farewell to one of its most beloved and respected journalists, Chuck Henry of KNBC. After more than 50 years in television news, Henry has reported from all corners of the globe, but he has always considered Southern California home.

Henry has meant so much to his colleagues, serving as a teacher, cheerleader, gadget master, life coach, and friend.

According to Todd Mokhtari KNBC GM, "When there is breaking news, Chuck is the first one to call — and he doesn't call to say, 'I’m coming in to anchor.' He calls to say, 'Where do you need me to go?' And I tell every up-and-coming journalist who wants to be an anchor, go watch Chuck Henry and ask him what he does when there's breaking news. That’s the role model you want for an anchor-reporter. He set the standard."

Hmmmm? Sounds like a guy you should have kept around and not offered a buyout.

Just saying…
