Some people are reacting to the story that Nexstar is going to stop streaming live newscasts.

On what planet does ANYONE who watches the news want to get it two hours later. I haven’t had cable in over a year, the only reason I needed it was for watching the local stations. Since everyone in my market livestreams, it was redundant and I cut the cord. This is how I get my news. Delaying the airing only pushes me, as a viewer, to watch the competition. All 3 competitors air their newscasts live. The Nexstar station in my market dominates the 10PM slot, it’s our highest rated newscast. Who wants to stay up until midnight to watch it? Very Nexstar to throw this mandate out there without any real plan to achieve it.
I truly do not understand the mindset of this company. It’s success and growth has been born out of aggression but I think many are seeing a paper tiger. NewsNation is a bust. The company expects to draw on local stations it underfunds for network level content. The company will cut left and right and yet wonder why so many stations are pulling low ratings. The grass is really looking greener at some of these companies that know how to compete and pay their talent properly.

With “Uncle Perry” as you like to call him ending livestream newscasts, what do you think it’s going to do for the highly intense weather markets like Oklahoma City and Lawton/Wichita Falls? Having a delayed newscast while you’re getting pounded by golf ball sized hail ain’t going to work.

They have reached the point of no return.
These TV stations trying to get us to fork over more money each time their cable deal comes up has reached the end game.
I thought about if for years, but this week I cut the cable cord and I’m not going back.
You guys aren’t getting another dime from me.
