Sources tell FTVLive that talks between Nexstar and the union at KRON in San Francisco are not going well at all and there is talk of a possible strike by the union employees.

“They're (Nexstar) trying to deny their rank and file miniscule sub standard raises (less than 2%) and contributions to the pension fund. They even had the nerve to try and take back a provision this week that they agreed to last week. Talks are stalled and yesterday in the union caucus room a strike was discussed,” said one union insider to FTVLive.

The union member says that Nexstar and its lawyers are out of their league when it comes to dealing with top market stations.

“They are grossly underestimating their union employees solidarity. Everyone on air yesterday wore blue to show that solidarity,” the insider said, adding, “No one is asking for the moon or even for them to keep up with the cost off living in these exceptionally expensive cities and yet they can't even do that.”

It will really get interesting if staffers do strike. My guess is Nexstar will try and fill the holes with Nexstar employees from other stations.

Will those people cross a picket line?
