A Big Jump in Markets...
/There was a time that before you landed an on-air job in a market like Phoenix, you would have to pay your dues.
A few jobs in smaller markets to learn the ropes, then make the jump to a top 15 market.
That’s no longer the case.
KPHO/KTVK has hired Sarah Robinson as a Reporter. Robison has only worked on-air at one other station and it was in Charlottesville, VA, market 177.
But, she was 1st-runner up in the 2021 Miss Virginia Pageant, so she has that going for her.
Look, this is great news for her, but is someone that has barely 2 years in this business really ready for a job in a top market?
In her KPHO/KTVK online bio, the station writes, “Upon graduation, Sarah was given the “Aluma to Watch Award,” and received an additional scholarship from the school of Theater and Dance.”
Okay…now I get it.
BTW- I tried calling KPHO to talk to someone in management. The phone is answered by a recording and there is no option to talk to a real person. Even if you are trying to call in a news tip, they wanted you to submit it through the website.
Wow! The communications business has given up on communication.
