The Death of the Last Quincy Duopoly

The writing has been on the wall for quite some time, and the people working there, knew this was the only outcome.

Gray’s WPTA and Ft. Wayne’s NBC station have worked out of the same newsroom for years. But, the stations used different staff and put on different newscasts.

But, starting in January, Gray is combining the two stations into one.

“The news teams at 21Alive and Fort Wayne’s NBC have operated out of the same newsroom for more than a decade,” said Vice President and General Manager Chris Fedele. “Now we will be joining forces under one brand to provide even more trusted news and information to our viewers.”

“The station has been bleeding talent nonstop for months and has barely hired anyone new and is barely able to operate,” said one insider to FTVLive, “Staffers hope this merger will bring some relief.”

They can spin this any way they want, this is all about saving costs.
