CBS O&O KYW announced that they have hired a new Chief Meteorologist for the Philly station.

Bill Kelly will become the station’s new Chief Meteorologist starting in January. He comes from WJLA in DC.

With Kelly coming on board that means that current KYW Chief Met Kate Bilo is getting knocked down the food chain.

Of course, the station tried to make the demotion not sound so awful. “In January, veteran CBS Philadelphia meteorologist Kate Bilo will transition from evenings to daytime, in large part to address the growing demand for weather coverage on the CBS News Philadelphia streaming channel. Bilo will also appear on KYW-TV (CBS 3) during the station’s weekday Noon and 4:00 PM, ET newscasts,” CBS said in a news release.

You go from doing the evening and late newscasts to the Noon and 4, spin it any way you want, it’s a demotion.
