Tegna Slows Hiring
/Sources tell FTVLive that Tegna has slowed hiring and is not filling many open positions when people leave since July.
“It has gotten worse the last two months,” a Tegna insider says, “Now when hiring for any position the station dept head clears with the GM, who clears with the SVP, who often clears with Lynn (Beall, Tegna COO) or Dave (Lougee, Tegna CEO)”.
Word is that Tegna is using more freelancers as they expect the sale to Standard General to be approved soon.
One source tells FTVLive that Tegna’s longstanding policy of remote workers having to live in the Tegna markets (markets with a TV station or brick/mortar building) is no longer enforced for corporate favorites. The source says that one VP is now in a non-Tegna Florida market.
It is likely the VP will be jettisoned after the sale goes through anyways.
We hear that one Tegna GM has already bought and is mostly living in their retirement home in another state.
It appears that many Tegna bosses are just mailing it in, knowing that when Standard General comes in, they will be soon gone.
