The Debate They Couldn't Watch
/Tuesday night was the televised debate between John Fetterman and Mehmet Oz for the US Senate seat in Pennsylvania.
The debate was televised across the state, with each market having a single station broadcast the debate.
In the Philadelphia market (#4 nationally), those rights belonged to WPHL which is owned by Nexstar. ios viewers in the Philadelphia market saw this screen when trying to watch the debate.
Nexstar is currently in a retransmission rights dispute with Verizon, which provides FiOS service to the market.
Now, when something as important as the future of our country is blacked out because Nexstar wants to make another greedy money grab, it really shows you how little they care about the viewers.
They could have lifted the blackout so those that wanted to watch the debate could do so, but they chose not to do so.
Nexstar blames Verizon and Verizon blames Nexstar. I blame two very greedy media companies that don’t put the viewers first as they should.
