Anchor Starts a Company While on Nexstar Paternity Leave

Nexstar has a nice benefit of giving new parents 6 weeks of paternity leave to help the parents get adjusted to having a new baby in their lives.

It appears that WMBD (Peoria) morning Anchor Matt Sheehan is using his time off to start up a new company.

First Sheehan posted about his new baby and how he was taking time off.

That post was made on September 14. On October 10th he posted a message saying that he is starting the final year of a three year contract and he doesn’t know what the future holds?

On Oct. 6th he posted an article on his website announcing he is starting his own cider company, “Sheehan Cider Co.”

He has also been busy on the Gram posting for the new company.

So, it appears that Sheehan is using his paid paternity leave to start an alcohol company and at the same time trying to gain support on his station-branded Facebook page for his next contract negotiation.

I’m not sure that was the idea when Nexstar put the paternity leave in place.

Cheers….
