Was Brian Williams Offered the CBS Evening News Job?
/It is hard to believe, then again maybe it’s not….
CNN’s Oliver Darcy says that according to his sources, CBS News president and co-head Neeraj Khemlani recently tried to recruit Brian Williams to host The CBS Evening News.
Darcy says that two of the sources he spoke with said that Khemlani tried at least twice to land Williams, but that Williams turned down the offer.
It is hard to believe that any network would be interested in Brian Williams anchoring their evening news.
Williams was pulled from NBC Nightly News after he was found to have lied and embellished stories about himself.
Darcy writes that “Williams, who hosted the popular "11th Hour" program on MSNBC during the Trump-era, has largely rehabilitated his image. Now, he is in demand.”
Is he really?
It’s not like Williams made some mistake as a young Journalist just getting started. This guy lied and embellished stories at the same time he was anchoring the nightly news on NBC.
While Darcy might believe that Williams “has largely rehabilitated his image” I’m not sure everyone buys that.
His MSNBC show did show us that Williams leans to the left and while they might be fine for a cable news host, it is not something you want on the resume of a network News Anchor.
If indeed CBS approached Brian Williams, it shows that the network isn’t concerned about having biased anchors and talent.
Also, it shows just how eager they are to replace Norah O’Donnell.
At this point, O’Donnell is clearly just a placeholder at CBS and you know that can’t be sitting well with her.
CBS is just a hot mess right now.
