Former Reporter Suing Scripps

Scripps-owned WFTX (Ft. Myers) parted ways with Anchor/Reporter Jane Monreal and now it appears she is suing the company for discrimination.

Interestingly, Monreal’s bio is still listed on the station’s website:

When she discusses her '“resume” in TV news in the bio, it says nothing about what I would call “real” reporting.

She talks about playing a Reporter in a movie, got to interview celebrities, was the “Dancing with the Stars” Reporter, eating hamburgers, and streamed a show on the red carpet.

But yet, somehow with what appears to be no investigative experience, she was hired as the station’s anchor and Investigative Reporter.

As for her lawsuit, we’ll watch and see how this plays out in court.

But, if I was Scripps, I would be looking a bit more into how this Investigative Reporter was hired in the first place?
