Promoted at CBS?
/The CBS O&O’s continue to add layers of management, while the rank in file seems to be shrinking.
CBS announced yesterday that they are adding an “innovation lab” and KCBS News Director Andrea Parquet-Taylor will “lead the first initiative that will be developed at the lab.”
6 days ago, FTVLive told you that KXAN (Austin) News Director Chad Cross is leaving the Nexstar station and now it appears he will be the “senior leader at the lab” at CBS.
Depending on who you are talking to in the CBS food chain, the move by Parquet-Taylor is either a promotion, or just a move to get her out of KCBS.
Of course, it is likely we’ll never know the real answer, but it is clearly another example of CBS spending more money and adding more layers of management to an already very top heavy operation.
I’m not sure what will be created in the “CBS lab” and I’m not sure that CBS knows either. They said that CBS Stations will be supporting Cross and Parquet-Taylor’s teams by hiring additional employees both in Dallas-Fort Worth and at local stations. They added, “specific job description information will be released in the near future.”
In other words, we need to make up some job titles and then we will post them.
You don’t need a “lab” to do local TV news. You need to hire good people that practice good journalism and spend the money needed to accomplish that.
You producing news, not vaccines, no lab needed.
