Ummmmm.....

I drove past a local McDonald’s here in Florida that had a “now hiring” sign out in front of the restaurant. The sign said that pay starts at $12-$14 dollars an hour.

I then saw this job posting on Glassdoor from Nexstar, looking for a Freelance Meteorologist at Its Rockford, Illinois station.

Two things….

First, the job pays less than someone flipping burgers.

Second and more importantly, the minimum wage in Illinois is $11/hour. If Nexstar is paying only $10 bucks an hour, they are violating state law.

Now, there is a loophole. According to Illinois state law, the minimum wage for workers under-18 in Illinois who work less than 650 hours in a calendar year is $8.50.

So, Nexstar either needs to bump that pay up by a buck (at least) or hire some high schooler to do weather.

Is this a great business or what?
