Many inside Nexstar put much of the blame on the failure that is News Nation, squarely at the feet of Sean Compton.

Compton is the guy that brought in former disgraced Fox News head Bill Shine and a consultant and hired Micheal Corn after getting exited from ABC News. Corn is facing a lawsuit over sexual misconduct at ABC.

Sean Compton sent an email to the staff, passing along a message from Nexstar CEO Perry Sook about News Nation hitting its 1st year anniversary.

Sook points out how proud he is with all that News Nation has accomplished in the 1st year and obviously looking at reality, Uncle Perry did not set the bar very high.

News Nation is about to launch a new morning newscast and sources tell FTVLive that Compton and Corn are seriously looking to farm out the weather duties to the local Nexstar stations.

In other words, the national cable morning newscast, may have the weather presented by some part-time Met working at the Nexstar station in Rockford for $10 bucks and hour.

A national cable channel with a shoestring budget.

I’m sure year 2 is going to be gangbusters.
