Headed to Chicago

Meteorologist Emily Wahls was working at WLNS in Lansing.

She left the station and many thought she was sitting out a non-compete and would be popping up as the Chief Meteorologist across the street at WILX. Word was the station was paying her to sit out the non-compete before going back on the air.

It was believed that she would be replacing Darrin Rockcole, who retired from television news last July after 30 years at WILX.

But, then WILX announced that they were rebranding the station and Rockcole, was returning as their Chief Met. “I love the direction the station is headed, and I decided I’m not ready to give this up yet,” Rockcole said.

So, what happens to Emily Wahls who has been off the air for months?

Well, Fox O&O WFLD announced that Wahls is going to be the station’s new Chief Met starting later this month.

So, she now goes from a station outside the top 100 markets and leaps all the way to market No. 3.

That is one hell of a jump.
