Tegna: The COVID Vax is Now Required

I guess it is better late than never….

After many station groups have made the COVID vaccine required as a part of the staffs’ employment, Tegna has finally gotten around to doing the same.

The staff at Tegna was sent an internal memo, informing them that they have until November 12th to get the COVID vaccine as a condition of employment.

The email from Tegna CEO Dave Lougee says that nearly 90% of Tegna employees are vaccinated and that the company is now looking to move that number up to 100%.

While FTVLive agrees with companies that are making the vaccine a condition of employment, we think United Airlines used the best method of getting the staff to comply.

United told its employees that they could either get the vaccine, or a $200 surcharge would be deducted from their paycheck to help pay for the increased insurance cost of covering those not vaccinated. Four thousand employees that worked at United and we not vaccinated, decided to get the vaccine and not a single employee quit.

It seems that the idea of losing money was a big driving force for those that did not get the vaccine, to do so.

Here is the email sent out to the Tegna employees and obtained by FTVLive:
