Taking More Time Out Of The Newscast

Nexstar CEO Perry Sook used to preach that Nexstar was all about “local” and how important that was to the company.

But, since Nexstar has launched the failing News Nation, the local news time in the Nexstar markets is being cut in an effort to try and prop up News Nation.

A memo went out to the Nexstar stations that they will be required to run a topical promo in their late newscasts, for the new News Nation morning show that is launching at the end of the month.

In other words, the local Nexstar stations are going to start running a promo that is asking their viewers to switch from their station to the cable news channel.

So much for local.
