You Give Consent to Nexstar

Nexstar has had company-wide meetings this week and told staffers that they can use no video or pictures on air that wasn’t shot by a Nexstar employee without consent.

Employees were told that they need to obtain a release filled out and signed by the ORIGINAL owner of the video or picture.

“So now, on top of being reporters, we have to be investigators to track down the ORIGINAL content producer for photos/videos and ask them to sign before images are used,” said one Nexstar staffer to FTVLive.

Insiders say this includes anyone’s social media accounts (including celebrities), viral videos, severe weather photos, dog pictures, anything without the actual photo taker’s consent.

I can’t wait to see some Reporter from a Nexstar station trying to get a hold of Kim Kardashian to ask for permission to use a picture she took of her egg salad sandwich that she had for lunch.

Also, what if a boldface name or politician sends a questionable photo to someone and a station obtains that picture. Do they have to get the politician to sign off on his naked selfie before the station can show it.?

Here is a picture of the consent form that the Nexstar employees are supposed to use to get consent:
