Stay in Your Lane
/For some reason, WGCL (Atlanta) Weather Anchor Ella Dorsey thought that she knew more about Hurricane Ida than the National Weather Service in New Orleans.
The NWS sent out information about Hurricane Ida and predicting winds greater than 110 MPH and a lot of rain for New Orleans.
Almost 500 miles, Ella Dorsey took to social media to call out the National Weather Service for posting misinformation on the storm.
As far as we know, Ella Dorsey has never worked in a tropical TV market and has never worked in NOLA but yet she thinks she knows better than they do.
Also, if you really have a problem with what the NWS was forecasting, couldn’t you have replied In a DM and not publically contradicted their information? That seems like the professional thing to do, instead of calling them out in public. It just muddies the waters for people trying to obtain accurate information.
FTVLive could not DM Dorsey because she has blocked us on Twitter.
Lastly, it appears that the NWS might have known a bit more than the millennial meteorologist after all.
According to CBS News (WGCL is a CBS affiliate), Ida made landfall at 11:55 a.m. CDT as an "extremely dangerous" Category 4 storm with 145 mph winds at Port Fourchon, Louisiana. Gusts were clocked at over 180 MPH.
As for the Big Easy? Here is a picture the AP took in the French Quarter.
Maybe, unless the weather is hitting the Atlanta area, Ella Dorsey should sit the next one out.
Just saying….
