Nexstar's News Nation Boss Accused of Sexual Assault
/We heard the rumors and so did many other people….
In a Patron Only story, FTVLive posted over two months ago, we wrote:
Former ABC Good Morning America boss Micheal Corn has taken over News Nation after most of the bosses from when News Nation launched, quit in protest.
There are still rumors flying as to why Corn left ABC and many working at Good Morning America still don't know what happened. His agent is even refusing to talk about why he suddenly left ABC.
Then yesterday, the news finally broke. A lawsuit filed Wednesday alleged that former "Good Morning America" boss Michael Corn sexually assaulted two staffers while working at ABC.
Corn has denied the charges.
FTVLive had been looking into this story for months.
No one at ABC was talking and even people that worked closely with Corn heard rumors but did not know details.
Some were surprised when Nexstar hired Corn to head the network and one ABC staffer asked FTVLive, “doesn’t Nexstar do any vetting before they hire someone?”
When News Nation head Sean Compton hired Corn to lead News Nation, he said, “He is a great fit for NewsNation and will be a tremendous leader for the network.”
Now, people inside the cable news channel are once again questioning Compton’s leadership/
“He quietly brought in Roger Ailes enabler Bill Shine and now he brings in a guy that is accused of sexual assault,” said one News Nation staffer about Compton to FTVLive.
People at ABC News are also upset that the network apparently swept the whole Micheal Corn situation under the rug.
“They knew, but said nothing,” said one ABC News staffer to FTVLive.
Nexstar now has to decide what to do next?
Do they let Corn continue to work?
Do they put him on leave until this plays out in court?
Do they part ways with yet another boss at the, not even year-old cable station?
Also, how many lives does Sean Compton get?
Insiders at News Nation say they have no confidence or respect left for Compton and it is clear that his hires have been more than a little sus.
This story still has a lot of playing out to do, but clearly, it is just another stain on News Nation’s very short, but very tarnished history.
Stay tuned….
